About SeriousFun

Imagine a place where children with serious illnesses can just be kids, laughing, playing, and discovering a world beyond hospital walls. That’s the heart of what SeriousFun is all about.

SeriousFun camps and programs support children facing over 50 medical conditions, including cancer, HIV/AIDS, and sickle cell disease. Founded by the legendary Hollywood actor Paul Newman, it has grown into a global network of 30 camps that provide life-changing experiences for kids.

These camps bring smiles, support, and adventure to thousands of kids worldwide, from the United States to the heart of Africa.

The Challenge

As SeriousFun prepares to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Paul Newman’s birth, the organization sought to amplify its mission and share its transformative impact with the world. The goal was to create a digital platform that conveys the depth and breadth of SeriousFun’s work—showcasing its global network of camps, the life-changing experiences they provide, and the ripple effects of their programs on families, communities, and beyond.

The new website needed to inspire action by highlighting heartfelt stories of campers, volunteers, and donors. It was designed to invite engagement, whether through volunteering, forming partnerships, or contributing financially. The challenge was not just to tell stories but to create a space where visitors could feel connected to the mission and see how they could become part of something truly meaningful.

Our Approach

Redesigning SeriousFun.org meant crafting a digital experience that reflects its role as a trusted nonprofit and a joyful community changing children’s lives. The goal was to design a site that feels welcoming and inspiring while maintaining a professional tone.

We started with user research to understand the unique needs of SeriousFun’s audiences: families, donors, volunteers, and partners. These insights guided our design and navigation choices, ensuring every visitor could find what they needed effortlessly. Parents can now explore camp programs and register their children, donors can see the impact of their contributions, and volunteers can connect with meaningful opportunities.

The design blends bright, uplifting visuals with clean typography and structured navigation to create an engaging and professional atmosphere. Motion design and storytelling transform key pages like “Why Camp?” into immersive experiences, turning information into an emotional connection that inspires action.

By focusing on user journeys, we built a platform that seamlessly integrates function and emotion, inviting visitors to engage with SeriousFun’s mission and take part in its life-changing work.

Summary

Dizzain sets an extremely high bar for vendor performance in terms of industry expertise and customer care!
